Interact Clubs - Serious Fun
Interact
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 14-18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.
Squamish Rotary sponsors two Interact Clubs. One at Howe Sound Secondary, and the other at Don Ross Secondary. Both clubs are very active, participating in community and international projects that they plan and implement themselves with the support of a school sponsor as well as a Rotary sponsor.
In March 2008, 5 members of the two Interact clubs visited Nairobi, Kenya to experience Kenyan culture, and further international understanding by participating in social and community service activities.
The clubs are very active locally as well. Each week they bake for the homeless shelter, and on October 31 they hold their annual "Trick or Treat for the Food Bank" event. Their annual goal is to collect one ton of food.
Our Interacters also spend time with the elderly, implement a variety of environmental projects, and host the annual Global Awareness Dinner.
Howe Sound Interacters meet on Tuesday in the sewing room.
Don Ross Interacters meet on Wednesday in B222.
New Members are welcome.
