Esme Sturton and Mylene St.Pierre-Borchert attended Rotary on July 10 and received their youth exchange blazers.

Esme was a charter member of the Don Ross Interact Club when she was in grade 9. She has been a member for the past 4 years, and has just graduated from Howe Sound Secondary. She attended RYLA during spring break, so she has learned a lot about Rotary and is looking forward to being involved with her new club during her year abroad.

Esme's first choice for youth exchange was Germany, and she was thrilled when she found out that she will be spending one year there. She leaves on August 5.

Mylene has also been involved in Interact at Don Ross and Howe Sound Secondary. She has just finished grade 11, so she will have one year of highschool to complete when she returns from her exchange year in Thailand. Thailand was Mylene's first choice, and she is looking forward to the challenge of living in a country with a different culture from our own.

Mylene has already travelled internationally with Rotary. In March 2008, she went to Nairobi, Kenya with Interact and visited the Emmanuel Boyz Rescue Centre.

Mylene and Esme will both be wonderful ambassadors for our club and our community. Squamish Rotary is pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to them. We are looking forward to hearing from them throughout the year, and seeing their presentations when they return.
