Daniel Nduati, founder of the Emmanuel Boyz Rescue Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, and a close friend of the Squamish Rotary Club, received a Paul Harris Award at our October 23rd Rotary meeting. DG Bob Blacker presented the prestigious award to Daniel.
Daniel opened the centre in 2000, a home for former street boys, and since that time 290 boys have come through the centre. The home provides a loving, caring shelter and education for 40 boys. Sheri and Ian Davis and family, Interacters, as well as our International Chair this year, Janet Gugins, have ventured to Kenya and have seen how remarkable Daniel has been in developing this special place. As a reminder, Julia, our Peace Scholar who is currently in Bradford England, is very involved with this Centre and was a catalyst in drawing awareness to the needs of this group. Daniel is currently visiting Squamish to raise awareness and funds for Emmanuel's. He is now a Rotarian at Hurlingham Club in Nairobi. Given our Club's support and love for Daniel and how he has helped these young boys turn their lives around, we feel Daniel is very deserving of a Paul Harris Award and certainly lives up to this year's motto of "Making Dreams Real".
